Your Semester-by-Semester Transfer Roadmap

  1. 1

    Semester 1

    Declare your intended transfer institution and major. Meet with an SF academic advisor to map your AA degree plan. Join the Honors Program if you haven't already.

  2. 2

    Semester 2

    Check in with Professor Keith about your transfer timeline. Research your target institution's specific requirements and prerequisites.

  3. 3

    Semester 3

    Book a major-specific advising appointment at the UF@SF Center (HA132). Identify remaining prerequisite courses. Begin researching transfer scholarships and their deadlines.

  4. 4

    Semester 4 (Final)

    Submit transfer applications. Apply for transfer scholarships. Confirm your Honors graduation designation with Professor Keith.

Florida Shines

Taking Courses at UF Through Florida Shines

As an SF student, you can enroll as a transient student at UF to take courses not offered at SF. This is especially useful for students in specific pre-professional tracks or who want a head start on upper-division coursework.

  • Apply through Florida Shines (floridashines.org)
  • Available on a space-available basis at UF
  • Meet with your SF advisor first to confirm how credits transfer
  • Some UF courses may be eligible for Honors Points — check with Professor Keith before enrolling
Application Tips

Tips for Your Transfer Application

  • Start your personal statement early. The best transfer essays are specific about why this institution and why this major.
  • Ask Professor Keith or an SF faculty member who knows your work for a recommendation letter.
  • Apply to your safety school too. Options give you leverage.
  • Include your SF Honors credential prominently in your application and personal statement.
