Graduating with Honors

Graduating with an Honors designation is the culmination of your time in the SF Honors Program. Your designation — Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors — is determined by the Honors Points you accumulated and your cumulative GPA over your enrollment, and is confirmed by Professor Keith in your final semester. Honors Points are earned throughout your time at SF — a minimum of 30 points per semester is required to remain in good standing, so consistent engagement each semester is what makes graduation with Honors possible. To graduate with an Honors designation, you must meet all of the following by the end of your final semester:

Confirming Your Graduation Designation

In your final semester, you should schedule a graduation confirmation meeting with Professor Keith. At this meeting, you will:

  • Review your Honors Points total and verify your graduation level
  • Confirm your cumulative GPA meets the 3.5 minimum
  • Verify your Canvas documentation is complete and submitted
  • Verify your program standing and clear any outstanding requirements
  • Receive official confirmation of your graduation designation (Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors)

Your designation is submitted to the SF Registrar and appears permanently on your official transcript and diploma. It cannot be added retroactively after graduation.

Timeline

Graduation Timeline

Each semester—Fall, Spring, and Summer—students graduate with Honors from SF. If you expect to graduate with Honors from your degree program, you will take the following steps in your final semester(s) at SF:

    First 3 weeks of the semester: Complete an Honors Program Graduation Application
  2. 2
    During final semester: Complete remaining requirements to graduate with Honors
  3. 3
    End of final semester: Attend the Honors & Global Education Award Ceremony
  4. 4
    End of final semester: Attend Commencement
  5. 5
    Following final exams: Submit remaining required documentation
  6. 6
    Before June 1: If anticipating transfer into UF Honors, submit all required documentation before this date
Celebrate

The Honors & Global Education Award Ceremony

Each year, SF hosts the Honors & Global Education Award Ceremony to recognize students completing the Honors Program and outstanding achievements in global education. The ceremony takes place at the end of the Spring semester.

At the ceremony, graduating Honors students are formally recognized and receive their Honors regalia. Special awards are also presented to specific students, staff, and faculty.

Families, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. Invitations are sent to graduating Honors students in the semester of completion.
