Research at SF Honors

Research isn't just for graduate students. At SF, Honors students conduct original research, present findings at professional events, and collaborate with faculty on work that matters. It's one of the most powerful things you can do in your two years here — and it earns Honors Points.

Showcase

The RUE Festival

The Research in Undergraduate Education (RUE) Festival is Santa Fe College's annual undergraduate research showcase. Held each spring, it gives Honors students the opportunity to present original research to faculty, peers, and the campus community.

How to Participate

    Choose a research topic. Library research, lab work, field research, and creative projects all qualify.
  2. 2
    Work with a faculty mentor or independently to develop your project.
  3. 3
    Create a research poster or presentation.
  4. 4
    Present at the festival and receive feedback from faculty judges.
  • All subjects welcome: STEM, humanities, social sciences, fine arts
  • Faculty judges select winners in multiple categories
  • Participation earns Honors Points

Beyond Campus

Regional and National Conferences

Florida College Honors Education Association (FCHEA)

Regional Honors conference held annually in Florida. Presenting or attending earns Honors Points and builds your academic profile.

National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC)

National conference for Honors students and programs. Talk to Professor Keith if you're interested in attending or presenting.

Mentorship

Finding a Research Mentor

Faculty mentorship is one of the most valuable things the Honors Program makes possible. If you have a research idea and want to develop it with a faculty member:

    Identify a faculty member in your subject area whose work interests you.
  2. 2
    Send a brief, professional email explaining your interest and what you'd like to explore.
  3. 3
    Meet to discuss feasibility and what the mentorship would look like.
  4. 4
    Contact Professor Keith to confirm the arrangement and document it for your Honors Points.
