Program Overview
How the Honors Program Works
The SF Honors Program is an academic program built to help you push your boundaries, no matter what you're studying at SF. Here's how it works from start to finish:
- Apply and be admitted. The Honors Program application is holistic — we look at your academic record as well as a project that demonstrates your individual strengths and letters of recommendation — to identify students who will find success in our program. There are no application or membership fees.
- Take Honors courses & engage outside the classroom each semester. Most Honors classes are courses you need anyway. Honors versions of these classes are capped at 15 students and taught in a discussion-based, collaborative format. You're expected to enroll in at least one Honors course per term, or earn the equivalent in Honors Points through approved activities.
- Earn Honors Points. Honors Points reflect your Honors coursework, projects, and engagement activities. Points are documented through the Honors Canvas group and determine your graduation designation.
- Graduate with Honors. Students who meet all requirements graduate with an Honors designation on their transcript and diploma — Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors — and gain access to university Honors programs upon transfer.
