Dental Clinic

Overview

A partnership with the University of Florida School of Dentistry

The Santa Fe College Dental Clinic is located on the Northwest Campus, 3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, Florida in Building W Room 71. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with varying hours for each semester. Unlike a private dental office, all appointments proceed at a slower pace because we are a teaching clinic. The longer appointments are necessary so that the students can learn and the faculty can teach. Therefore, appointments may take anywhere from 2-4 hours and multiple visits may be required.

Services offered by the clinic include:

• Dental Radiographs (x-rays)
• Oral Examination/Dental Hygiene/Treatment Planning
• Dental Prophylaxis (cleaning)
• Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing)
• Topical Fluoride Treatments
• Sealants
• Oral Hygiene Instructions
• Fillings
• Simple Extractions

Note: Services are limited and are offered by appointment only. The SF Dental Clinic does not offer any emergency services. The SF Dental Clinic does not offer services for toothaches, emergent care, periodontal surgery, orthodontics, oral surgery or root canal therapy.

Appointments

• Dental Clinic appointment requests are taken by the Clinic Coordinator by calling 352-395-5655. If you reach the voicemail, you may leave a message.
• Due to the overwhelming demand for appointments, patients are not guaranteed appointments.
• The SF Dental Clinic is an instructional environment and as such, if your dental needs align with the student needs and educational requirements at that time, you may be scheduled for an appointment and/or receive a call back from our clinic coordinator. The Dental Clinic appreciates your patience and understanding.
• Only the Santa Fe College Dental Clinic staff can schedule appointments. Other SF departments are not able to take messages or arrange appointments for the Dental Clinic.

• The clinic schedule varies depending on the semester schedule and student needs.
• The clinic is closed when the college is closed for holidays and periods of time between semesters.

Cost and Payment for Services

• Cost for services vary depending on the type of service provided to the patient. The need for additional services is based upon patient assessment and recommendations from the Dental Clinic faculty. Costs for additional services will be discussed with the patient prior to beginning treatment.
• Payment for all services is due at the time services are rendered.
• The SF Dental Clinic accepts cash, personal checks, major credit cards and Apple Pay.
• The SF Dental Clinic does not accept dental insurance. Patients are advised to consult with their dental insurance company to determine reimbursement eligibility. A receipt for services will be provided to the patient upon request.

Parking on Campus

• The Dental Clinic is located in Building W, right off of 83rd St and NW South Rd. Patients may park next to Building W or Building WA in spaces not marked "Reserved". Reserved spots are designated for SF employees and you will receive a ticket for parking there without a decal. Accessibility parking is located near both buildings.

Helpful hints as a patient in the Dental Clinic

1. You are expected to arrive on time and stay for the whole appointment.
2. Patients are expected to keep all appointments. Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule so that your reserved time can be made available to another patient.
3. Loss of clinic privileges will occur if you cancel or do not show for two appointments or if you do not adhere to the clinic rules and policies. We expect civility at all times from our patients.
4. Our students pay for their educational time in the clinic and a patient's last minute cancellation (or a no show) causes the student to miss out on educational time they've paid for.
5. We encourage patients to see a private dentist for alternate visits so that they can get comprehensive care that we do not offer in our dental hygiene clinic.
