How to Donate

Feel free to bring donations in during store hours! If that's not convenient, there's a donation bin behind the store, in the corridor between Share Wear and the surplus storage area. You can also email us to coordinate a drop-off. Our managers can usually accept donations in their offices as well. (Note: Please do not leave donations at the store's front entrance, as it is not protected from the elements.)

Donation Receipts

All items at Share Wear are sold for either $1, 50¢, or 25¢. Thus, a donatinon no matter the retail value. For this reason we're rarely asked to create a receipt, but we can if necessary.

Share Wear is not for profit. Monies received are used ONLY for store operations, campus outreach, and Career Service scholarship contributions. All staff are volunteers. Share Wear does not receive funding from any source other than sales and donations.

Share Wear has been an independent project for almost 20 years. We know it's time to take the store to the next level, and we want to make that happen! We are currently exploring options that would allow us to be open more days while ensuring that Share Wear remains independent and service-oriented.

No. Share Wear is not a retail store and cannot sell to the general public. For the safety of our students, we reserve the right to ask any shopper for a current and valid SF ID card.

Absolutely! Students and staff are welcome to volunteer at Share Wear. Staff volunteers are crucial for keeping the store open, and student volunteers are the heart and soul of Share Wear. If you're interested, email us or just show up on a Wednesday! Staff must have supervisor approval, and students should consult their advisor about volunteer credit. We can fill out any community service paperwork you may have.

We are not permitted to create social media accounts for Share Wear. Please feel free to show off your Share Wear finds on your own social media - we love to see it! You can always contact us at sharewear@sfcollege.edu. (Remember to use your SF email account!)

At Share Wear our mission is student service. That includes helping those in need with friendliness, respect, and discretion; it also includes ensuring all students feel welcome and included in our store. If you need help finding something, ask any volunteer. If you're facing hardship, contact the Care Center or come to us at Share Wear. We are here for you!

The Share Wear Story

Share Wear was created in 2008 by Career Service employees Tyffany Wishart and Debi McElroy. They built a thrift store from scratch in an empty auto bay, using fixtures donated by local businesses. They charged $1 per item to keep the store running and donated the overflow to Career Service scholarships. Tyffany and Debi retired from SF in 2019, leaving their project in the care of Heather Domin and Mikayla Robinson. We are passionate about carrying on the mission they started: serving SF students.

During the pandemic, with the help of a generous grant from the Rotary Club, we were able to refresh the store for a grand reopening in June 2022. We currently partner with several areas on campus including the Saints Care Center, Displaced Homemakers, Job Placement, and others to meet student needs as best we can. We get help from some amazing student volunteers, including from High School Dual Enrollment and Project SAINT. And of course, everything is still $1 or less!

The Share Wear project is operated by four officers (managers): Cheetara Ritz, Heather Domin, Mikayla Robinson, and Oralia Gamino. The Share Wear Squad conducts all store operations and management. Contact us at sharewear@sfcollege.edu.
