Alan J. Robertson Medallion

Award Information

The Alan J. Robertson Medallion is awarded annually to a full-time employee whose contributions to the College best exemplify its mission: "Adding value to the lives of students and enriching our community."

The award will be presented in the spring semester at the College Discovery Day. Accordingly, the deadline for receipt of letters of nomination will be March 31.

Nominations must be made by a college employee and must be submitted in letter form to the Selection Committee. Each letter of nomination should concern only one candidate and should limit the candidate’s contributions and accomplishments to the previous calendar year. Letters may have multiple signatures. Candidates who write letters of self-nomination will not be considered in the selection process.

The Selection Committee will consist of five judges: two College Senate officers (the President, the Presiding Officer, or the Secretary as an alternate); two Career Service Council officers (the Chair, the Co-chair, or the Secretary as an alternate); and a former medallion recipient. The respective alternate will serve if a Senate or a Career Service officer is nominated for the medallion. In the event that all of the officers are nominated, the Executive Councils of the Senate and of the Career Service will select respective members of the committee.

The Selection Committee will convene within a week of the nomination deadline, and the judges will name a chair. The selection process should be completed in an efficient and timely manner. No second place recipient (i.e., honorable mention) will be named.

When the selection process is completed, the committee chair will notify Human Resources so that they can prepare a check and order the name plate for the perpetual plaque. The committee chair will notify the President's Office so that the medallion can be properly inscribed. The committee chair will notify the appropriate administrator responsible for Discovery Day and will request the medallion award be placed on the agenda. The President of the College will award the medallion on this occasion.

The President's Office will prepare the medallion for presentation. The Office of Human Resources will provide the recipient a monetary award of $300 and will place the recipient’s name on the perpetual plaque, located in the lobby of the Alan J. Robertson Administration Building.
