Your Campus Thrift Store
At Share Wear our goal is to increase access to affordable clothing for SF students and staff. That's why every item in our store costs $1 or less. (You read that right: one dollar.)
Open Wednesdays 11am to 1pm
Location: H-130, on the NW Campus between the Oak Grove and UF@SF. The front door faces Building S.
Cash Only: At this time we can only accept cash. We realize many people don't carry cash these days, and we hope to have more options for you in the future.
FAQ
Where does my dollar go?
Share Wear is not for profit. Monies received are used ONLY for:
- Store operations and upkeep
- Participating in campus events
- Career Service scholarship contributions
All staff are volunteers. Share Wear does not receive funding; all income is from sales. The Treasurer maintains an expense ledger for transparency.
Do you accept donations?
We gratefully accept gently-used clothing, shoes, and accessories. We have a donation bin behind the store, between Share Wear and Surplus; you can also bring donations in during store hours or contact us to coordinate drop-off.
Please note that for safety reasons we cannot accept the following:
- underwear or swimsuits that have been worn (no tags)
- safety equipment such as helmets, kneepads, goggles
- anything stained, soiled, moldy, or mildewed
Can you help me find ___?
Our goal is to meet your needs to the best of our ability. This includes helping you:
- find professional clothes for a presentation or interview
- shop for gender-affirming clothes in a safe environment
- access affordable pregnancy and children's clothes
- access affordable lab coats for class (when available)
If you're part of the SF family, Share Wear is here for you. Our volunteers wear green lanyards and are happy to answer your questions and help you find what you need.
Can I volunteer in the store?
SF staff and students are welcome to volunteer at Share Wear. The main work we do is sorting: prepping donations for sale by organizing and hanging them. If you're interested, email us.
Staff must have supervisor approval, and students should consult their advisor about volunteer hour credit.
Are you open to the public?
Share Wear is a resource for the SF community: students, staff, and their families. We are not a retail business and are not open to the general public.
The Share Wear Story
Share Wear was created in 2008 by SF employees Tyffany Wishart and Debi McElroy. They built the store from scratch in an empty auto bay, charging $1 per item to keep things running and donating overflow to the Career Service Scholarship Fund. Tyffany and Debi both retired in 2019, leaving their project in the care of Heather Domin and Mikayla Robinson. We are passionate about carrying on the mission they started: serving the SF family. We partner with several areas on campus including Job Placement, Displaced Homemakers, the LGBTQ+ Center, and others to help meet student and staff needs as best we can. And of course, everything is still $1!
Share Wear is operated by four committee officers: Cheetara Ritz, Heather Domin, Mikayla Robinson, and Oralia Gamino. The Share Wear Squad serve as store managers and are responsible for daily operations and campus outreach. Contact us at sharewear@sfcollege.edu.
