Watson Center celebrates retirement of Karen Lake

portrait of Karen LakeA celebration to mark the retirement of Karen Lake, Advising Specialist at Watson Center, will be held Monday, June 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the center in Keystone Heights. Lake is retiring after nearly 20 years with the college.

Lake, who has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Baylor University, served as the editor for the Lake Region Monitor for three years. She joined Santa Fe College Watson Center as an Administrative Assistant, serving 10 years before transitioning to an Advising Specialist role, where she has spent the last nine years guiding and empowering students.

Beyond her contributions to the college, Lake was active in government and community service. She has held key political roles in Keystone Heights for nearly two decades, including time as Mayor. 

Her deep roots and active involvement span the Women’s Club, Kiwanis, Rotary, Mission on the Dirt Road, Keystone Athletics, and support for all K–12 schools in the area.

“We welcome everyone in celebrating the remarkable career and retirement of Karen Lake, whose dedication and leadership have left a lasting legacy across Santa Fe College and the greater Keystone Heights community,” said Watson Center Director Gina Greenidge.
