Northwest Campus closed November 15

November 6, 2026
Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus will be closed Sunday, November 15, 2026, to allow Gainesville Regional Utilities to perform a critical electrical system repair. The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo will remain open.
On August 10, GRU notified the College of a failure within the College-owned Automatic Transfer Switch located near North Road and NW 83rd Street. This repair will ensure long-term electrical reliability and reduce the risk of a future unplanned campus-wide outage.
To make the repair, GRU must fully disconnect the power to the switch, inspect internal components, perform repairs, test the equipment, and return it to service.
At this time, the outage is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Facilities staff will be on site during the repair to make sure all utilities are operating properly whenever the repair is completed.
Sunday, November 15, was selected to minimize impact on students and operations. This date was selected based on GRU availability as well as review of scheduled events and activities, including Athletics, Fine Arts Hall, Health Sciences, Student Affairs, the Planetarium, Library and Testing.
The campus will reopen for normal hours on Monday, November 16.
Other SF centers are not affected.
