Legal Review Request

Request for Legal Services

All contracts received by any College employee or official must be reviewed by the Office of the General Counsel or the Director of Purchasing and Auxiliary Services before being duly executed by the appropriate signature authority. Unless you have clearly been given delegated signature authority by the Board of Trustees (e.g. Director of Purchasing and Auxiliary Services or Provost), DO NOT sign any agreements, contracts, memoranda of understanding, binding letters or the like. If the contract is associated with a Purchase Order, do not use this form; instead, submit the contract to the Director of Purchasing and Auxiliary Services.

Before submitting, carefully review the proposed contract to ensure that it meets your needs and reflects the substantive terms that you discussed with the vendor. Add any requests for changes or clarification to the comments below. The Legal Review Request form is available to make a request to the Office of the General Counsel to review contracts, to ask general legal questions, or to propose a new Rule, Procedure, or Administrative Guideline or to propose a change to an existing one. Upon submitting the form, the Vice President over your area will receive a copy of your legal review request. Proposed Rule, Procedure, and Administrative Guideline changes require review by the General Counsel before they will be considered by the President's Cabinet, shared governance, and ultimately, if applicable, the Board of Trustees.

Please allow at least 60 days for your item to be reviewed and completed. Many times an item will require robust discussions and input from staff throughout the College, or an item may need conversations with outside parties to arrive at agreeable terms.
