Overview
Students who wish to withdraw from a course and receive a W grade may do so via the eSantaFe student portal up until the official withdrawal date of each term/session, as published in the online calendar and the Calendar and Critical dates website. Withdrawn courses will remain in the student record and will count as attempts.
Financial Responsibility
Students will continue to be financially responsible for withdrawn course. Withdrawing from a course may also impact financial aid, including Bright Futures. Students are encouraged to discuss the possible impact of withdrawing from a course with the Financial Aid Office before making a final decision to withdraw from a course.
The Withdrawal Process
To withdraw from a class:
- Login to eSantaFe by entering your SFID and Password
- In the menu bar, select "Withdraw Classes" under the "My Classes" menu tab.
- Click on the blue “Withdrawal” button next to the course you would like to withdraw from.
- Read the information regarding the course withdrawal and click “Yes” to confirm.
Additional information about course withdrawals
- Once you have withdrawn from a course, you cannot be added back. Make sure to consult with your instructor about your academic standing prior to withdrawing.
- If a course has a Lab attached, you must withdraw from both the lecture and the Lab.
- If you want to withdraw from a course that is a prerequisite for a course you had registered for a future term, you must drop the future course first, before you can withdraw from your current course. Example: You want to withdraw from ENC1101 in Spring 2023, but you had already signed up for ENC1102 in the Summer 2023. You must drop ENC1102 before you can withdraw from ENC1101.
- Students will be permitted a maximum of two withdrawals per course. Upon the third attempt, the student will not be permitted to withdraw and will receive a grade for that course.
Missed the deadline?
Students who missed the published withdrawal deadline may submit a petition for a late withdrawal.
