Mural collaboration adorns Health Sciences RISE Center

Santa Fe College President Paul Broadie gathered with students and faculty Tuesday to unveil a student-created mural that now decorates a formerly bare wall in the RISE Center in W-233. The six-paneled painting representing several Health Sciences disciplines occupies a space above teaching aids and anatomical models used to prepare students for testing. 

Fine Arts student Hannah Bloodsworth said the artists were approached in the SF Visual Arts Club by Health Sciences to create the commissioned piece to energize the popular student gathering space. 

“We started the project in Spring 2025, and it took more than 90 hours to complete,” Bloodsworth said. “We took the foundational ideas of health and science and connected them in a way that spans the entire mural. We hope it inspires students to enter and continue in the profession.”

Bloodsworth said she was the only student of the six co-creators of the mural who was in the Fine Arts program.

“This was a special opportunity for students in different academic disciplines — art and science — to come together to visualize and create something that will benefit not just students in Health Sciences, but the entire campus,” said Claire Orenduff, chair for Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology. “This vibrant piece will really draw people into the RISE Center.”
