Pillars of Service honors stewardship and leadership

The Santa Fe College community came together Wednesday, March 4, to honor individuals and an organization making a profound positive impact on the college, our neighborhoods and communities, and our next generation of leaders,

The SF College Foundation Pillars of Service Awards were presented at a luncheon ceremony March 4, 2026, at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center.

Each year, the Foundation accepts nominations for the awards, which were created to recognize outstanding achievements and service.

“As we hear their stories, we’re reminded of the powerful difference that service, leadership, and advocacy can make,” said Dr. Portia Taylor, Master of Ceremonies. “These honorees represent the very best of us - enriching our communities, uplifting others, and inspiring future generations.”

The honorees were:

John Miller of Starke, who is owner and publisher of The Bradford County Telegraph and ardent community advocate.

“He has preserved local journalism as a vital civic institution – ensuring transparency, informed citizenship, and the celebration of community achievements,” Taylor said.

Dr. Dan Rodkin, who is Associate Vice President of Student Affairs for Santa Fe College.

Rodkin led development of the SF Achieve program, which has helped increase the number of students from Alachua and Bradford counties who enroll at SF, as well as Freedom Learn, which surrounds formerly incarcerated students with support systems to help them succeed.

Greg Bradley, who is a former SF Foundation Board member and president, entrepreneur and founder of Mirror Image Leadership Academy, youth development initiative.

“Not only did Greg lead Santa Fe College’s largest ever fund-raising campaign, a $16 million success story,” said Dr. Paul Broadie II, SF President, “But he is also ensuring that our community’s youth are prepared to be the next generation of community leaders.”

Builders Association of North Central Florida, which works in partnership with industry and Santa Fe College to development and manage highly successful apprenticeship programs in the building trades.

“BANCF is a vital partner is advancing workforce education and economic opportunity,” Taylor said.

Finally, Santa Fe College student Charlotte Barone was recognized as the Pillars of Service Student of Promise.

Charlotte, who served in the U.S Marines, is a mother of two, Honors student, peer mentor, and campus leader demonstrates how much can be accomplished with courage, resilience and a strong support system.

“Charlotte, we are so proud of you,” Broadie said. “You are an example to others about what’s possible. We know you will go far.”
