Library Mission
The L.W. Tyree Library supports Santa Fe College with knowledgeable staff, appropriate resources and an environment that promotes user success and life-long learning.
Goals
Outreach and Access
Provide state of the art communication for all users to access information resources.
- Provide access to the Library 7 days a week for a total of 84 hours, with extended hours during final exams.
- Provide 24/7 access to the online catalog.
- Provide online renewals and requests.
- Supplying certain reserve materials via phone, online, and mail.
- Enable users to borrow materials from 27 community colleges, 12 state universities, and other libraries as needed.
- Support the SF Centers with online services, on-site information literacy instruction, and document delivery.
Delivery Alternatives
Assess student needs and outcomes and create innovative and flexible learning opportunities.
- Create tailored information literacy instruction to enhance users' independence and life-long learning.
- Participate in statewide program to provide materials from libraries.
- Collaborate with faculty to improve resources for students.
Education Programs
Provide educational offerings to all users.
- Design courses to meet the needs of users.
- Provide tailored classes and presentations for users.
- Offer flexible scheduling for users.

Human Resources
Recruit, develop, assess, and retain quality full and part-time librarians and library staff.
- Recruit qualified and experienced library staff.
- Provide professional development for library staff, including annual opportunities for workshops and conferences.
Technology
Provide access and resources for research.
- Provide 24/7 online access to the library catalog and vendor databases.
- Provide Internet access for users through 87 computers.
- Provide wireless Internet access throughout the entire building.
Resources
Provide state of the art library for users, including:
- Ongoing collection review and update, incorporating faculty and user input
- Computer classroom
- 8 small and 3 large group study rooms
- Quiet study on the 3rd floor
- Equipment for viewing media
- 2 print/copy stations
- 2 BookScan stations
- Generous study areas on all floors
- 87 computers (including 2 adaptive technology work stations) distributed among all floors and 70 computers in 2 classrooms
- Conference room, which may be used by all members of SF pending availability
