Study Abroad in Mexico
SF in Mexico 2026
Program Overview
This 12-day study abroad program in Campeche, Mexico provides a comprehensive learning experience focused on art, and Latin American humanities. The program aims to provide students with a deep understanding of the cultural and historical significance of the region and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate a globalized world.
During the program, students will be fully immersed in the local culture through homestays with host families, visits to local museums and galleries, and attendance of classes taught by local experts. The program also includes a visit to Edzna, Chicana, Becan and Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where students will learn about the relevance of Maya culture.
In addition to the academic and cultural activities in Campeche, the study abroad program will include a visit to the archaeological site of Calakmul. This site, located in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, is considered one of the most important Mayan archaeological sites and is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Students will have ample opportunities to explore the site with a professional guide and learn about the history and culture of the Mayan civilization.
By participating in this study abroad program, students will develop their cross-cultural communication and intercultural competency skills. They will also gain insight into the artistic, linguistic, and cultural diversity of Latin America, which will enable them to engage effectively with diverse communities in their future professional and personal lives. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to build relationships with their host families and peers, fostering a sense of global citizenship and promoting cross-cultural understanding. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to expand their knowledge, deepen their understanding of the world, and enhance their personal and professional growth.
