Planning to Graduate with Honors? Apply for Graduation Now!
Honors Graduation Applications Due January 30 February 13
Are you planning to wrap up your time at SF in the Spring or Summer? Lock in your Honors credential and apply for Honors Graduation now. The deadline to apply was January 30, but there is still time if you need to apply for graduation this spring or summer.You should apply for Honors Graduation if:
You are planning to graduate this semester or over the summer, or have previously completed your degree at SF.
You expect this or the summer to be your final semester at SF.
You expect to earn at least 150 Honors Points before finishing this semester.
The graduation application takes only a few minutes, so plan to knock it out today.
What else do I need to do to graduate with Honors or Global Scholars?
If you plan to graduate with Honors, your first step is to complete the application. We'll plan to review your points, verify your status, and be in touch with additional information. To check on your graduation status for Global Scholars, please email International Education Coordinator, Matt Michel, at matt.michel@sfcollege.edu.
Is there a graduation event for students earning Honors or Global Scholars designations?
At the end of the semester, we award Honors and Global Scholars medallions at the Honors x Global Scholars awards ceremony. After applying for graduation, please keep an eye on your email for more information about this event.
What do I need to do if I plan to enter UF's Honors Program?
Because of our pilot transfer pathway, you can plan to transfer into UF's Honors Program if:
You graduate from SF with Highest Honors.
You complete your Honors Program requirements, including submitting documentation, before June 1.
You are accepted to UF for the Fall semester.
If all of these are true, you will receive an invitation this summer to join UF's Honors Program. You won't need to take any action to make this happen.

Emerging Infectious Diseases: Using New Tools to Address “Wicked” Health Problems

In this session, Dr. Anderson will explore how complex infectious disease challenges, ranging from zoonotic spillover to global pandemics, require innovative, interdisciplinary approaches. The talk highlights new frameworks and tools that are transforming how we detect, monitor, and respond to emerging health threats.
Dr. Anderson will also share his personal career journey, beginning as a Santa Fe College student and ultimately becoming a faculty member and program director at the University of Florida.

Soto’s Stuff: Spanish 16th Century Expeditions and What They Left Behind

Join the Department of Anthropology, the Archaeological Institute of America, and the George A. Smathers Libraries for the "Archaeology of the Americas" series. This lecture features Dr. Charles Cobb from the Florida Museum, who will present new insights into the route traveled by Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto’s army between 1539 and 1543.
The presentation explores how a substantial sample of European metal objects recovered from Indigenous villages sheds light on patterns of discard and trade, and the ways in which Indigenous societies reshaped European material culture.

Competing for ‘Soft Power’: China’s Uneven Image – Making in Africa

This talk explores China’s strategic efforts to build its image in Africa, with a specific focus on Ethiopia. Dr. Repnikova will discuss her extensive research into information politics, global communication, and how China navigates its "soft power" influence in transnational spaces.

Hume and Hellenism Conference
5 Honors Points 1 Global Scholars Point
The University of Florida is hosting a two-day conference exploring David Hume’s reception and transformation of Hellenistic thought. This collaboration between UF Philosophy, the Hamilton School, and the Hume Society brings together specialists to reassess how Hume’s creativity was sparked by his engagement with Epicurean, Stoic, Neoplatonist, and Skeptical ideas.
Speakers will address Hume’s understanding of skepticism, his adaptation of ancient models of flourishing, and his impersonation of Hellenistic figures in his Essays, Moral, Political and Literary. The event aims to shed new light on Hume’s philosophical project and the broader dynamics of the Enlightenment's reception of the ancient world.

Gulf Scholars Cohort Field Trip: Cedar Key

Join UF Gulf Scholars for a day trip to Cedar Key, a small Gulf Coast community shaped by fishing, aquaculture, tourism, and ongoing conversations about resilience and change.
Departure will be from UF campus early Saturday morning, returning by mid-afternoon. A picnic lunch will be provided.
This field trip counts as a UF Gulf Scholars cohort meeting for students pursuing the Gulf Scholars Medallion. Preference will be given to students actively enrolled in or working toward the medallion. We look forward to spending the day together on the Gulf!

Enjoy the outdoors and meet the some of your “wildest” friends at Carson Springs Wildlife sanctuary on walking or riding tours. Learn about rare and endangered animals in natural habitats during tours that feature big cat feeding demonstrations and giraffe feedings. The sanctuary is home to approximately 30 rare and endangered species and over 100 animals.

Help support the care, rescue, and adoption of animals in our community at the Alachua County Animal Resources shelter (3400 NE 53rd Ave, Gainesville). Volunteers can assist with animal care, events, transport, enrichment activities like “Doggy Day Out,” and more. Orientation and training are required, long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn, and youth volunteers ages 10–17 may participate with a parent/guardian. This is a great opportunity to make a real impact, gain experience in animal welfare, and give back to Alachua County.

UF Pre-Health Advising Services Spring Term 2026
Pre-Health advising appointments are available in-person and remote through Zoom Monday through Friday. Our 30-minute appointments are open 7 days in advance and are bookable through the Connect Survey.
The Pre-Health Advising Team is offering mock interview appointments. Students must submit a professional school interview invitation from the 2025 application cycle, as well as all of their application materials (pre-health resume and/or personal statement) at the time of booking or it will be canceled, as sufficient time is needed for advisor feedback.
