SF monitoring Hurricane Isaias

Santa Fe College is monitoring the progress of Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to strengthen to at least a Category 2 storm before hitting the Gulf Coast along the western panhandle Friday night.  

While the greater Gainesville area is not in the storm's path, counties in the college’s far western service region could experience significant negative effects. In addition to damaging straight-line down gusts and tornadoes, the National Weather Service expects significant storm surge, up to 9 feet in some areas.

Students in those counties may be evacuating or have difficulty returning to class next week. We are asking everyone’s understanding and patience for any students negatively affected by Isaias.

We are proactively reaching out to those students to assure them that Santa Fe College wants them to prioritize themselves and their loved ones.

The College is closed Friday, October 9. Classes resume and offices reopen on Monday, October 12.
