Program Overview
The Accounting A.A. program is for students contemplating a career in accounting or associated fields.
The curriculum provides the academic foundation for transfer to a college or university to earn an advanced degree in accounting or related business major and prepares individuals to practice the profession of accounting and to perform related business functions.
Coursework provides an introduction into accounting theory, functions and practice and allows you to develop the skills, abilities, and understanding required for advanced study and a career in the accounting or finance fields.
Career Possibilities
Job opportunities are available in public, private, financial or government accounting and other related areas of accounting and finance. Specific fields include accountant, accounting manager, bookkeeper, CPA, payroll clerk, and tax accountant.
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is a two-year liberal arts degree designed for the student who intends to transfer into a bachelor's degree program. You do not earn an A.A. in a specific major; however, you do have the opportunity to track toward a specific major at a university by choosing a related advisement track at Santa Fe College. If you don’t see a track geared toward your intended transfer major, you may choose General Studies and speak with your academic advisor.
