Program Overview
The Physics program curriculum will provide students with the academic foundation to transfer to a college or university to pursue a bachelor's degree and find employment in industry, manufacturing, computers, and education. The program will prepare students to use and understand facts, concepts, and theories; use various techniques and tools in the lab and in the field; use the scientific method; employ analytic and problem–solving skills; and practical application of skills.
The physics program graduate can find employment in a variety of fields: bioengineering, chiropractic, clinical laboratory technology, dentistry, education, medicine, occupational or physical therapy, optometry, pharmacy, plant pathology or veterinary medicine.
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is a two-year liberal arts degree designed for the student who intends to transfer into a bachelor's degree program. You do not earn an A.A. in a specific major; however, you do have the opportunity to track toward a specific major at a university by choosing a related advisement track at Santa Fe College. If you don’t see a track geared toward your intended transfer major, you may choose General Studies and speak with your academic advisor.
