Program Overview
Exploratory programs provide you the opportunity to work with your academic advisor and the Career Exploration Center to learn more about academic options related to certain programs. You may stay in the exploratory track until you have completed 24 credit hours toward your A.A. degree, at which time you will be required to select a more specific academic track.
The Exploring Science track is for anyone interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields but needs time to explore options before choosing a specific major. This includes an interest in: astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, environmental science, forestry, geography, geology, marine sciences, microbiology and cell science, physics, zoology, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering and other related majors.
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is a two-year liberal arts degree designed for the student who intends to transfer into a bachelor's degree program. You do not earn an A.A. in a specific major; however, you do have the opportunity to track toward a specific major at a university by choosing a related advisement track at Santa Fe College. If you don’t see a track geared toward your intended transfer major, you may choose General Studies and speak with your academic advisor.
