Program Overview
This program provides you with the basic requirements to transfer to a college or university as a junior to complete a bachelor’s degree. You are responsible for completing the admission requirements of the university in order to transfer.
The Forestry A.A. degree provides hands-on training to get you started on your way to a career in a dynamic field. Fields of study provide training in resource management, recreation, ecology, surveying and mapping, biology, and genetics, preparing students for potential careers in Forestry, Consulting Firms, Recreation and Ecotourism, Marine Science, or Environmental Policy.
Graduates in the field enjoy many benefits: being able to work in public or private business, relatively quick time finding employment and obviously, working in the top green career fields. If you want to help determine what happens to our public lands and natural resources, or just enjoy hiking and camping, then a career in forestry is for you.
The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree is a two-year liberal arts degree designed for the student who intends to transfer into a bachelor's degree program. You do not earn an A.A. in a specific major; however, you do have the opportunity to track toward a specific major at a university by choosing a related advisement track at Santa Fe College. If you don’t see a track geared toward your intended transfer major, you may choose General Studies and speak with your academic advisor.
