This session will focus on the geography of Africa including its natural resources
and how this impacts people's lifestyle. It will also look at the continent's resources
and how they compare at the global level.
The workshop presenter, Dr. Abraham Goldman, is the Director of the Center for African
Studies and an associate professor in the Department of Geography. He earned his PhD from Clark University and BA from Harvard University. His research
interests include food and agriculture in Africa, resources and conservation, geography
of world agriculture, human geography, environmental impact of pesticides, and foreign
policy issues linking developed and developing countries. His regional areas of expertise
are Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda.
