STEM Camp a success at the Perry Center

The week of June 23, the Perry Center for Emerging Technologies hosted another amazing year of SF's award-winning STEM Earth, Wind, Fire and Water camp for rising 9th graders.
Campers ran cutting-edge biotechnology and forensic science experiments with Alejandra Maruniak and Aaron Hirko, uncovered clues to the past using paleontology and archaeology with Birgitta Kimura, put on their engineering caps to build solar energy vehicles with Rich Jenkins, and used mathematics to calculate the altitude of rockets they designed and launched with Jimmy Yawn.
The camp culminated in a Friday behind-the-scenes tour of the molecular biology labs inside the Macguire Center for Lepidoptera guided by Collections Coordinator Dr. Andrei Sourakov and a trip around the galaxy with James Albury in the Kika Silva Pla planetarium.
We're looking forward to another great camp next year!
