Celebrate the Apollo 11 Anniversary Under the Stars!
July 12, 2013
Saturday, July 20, 2013 marks the 44th anniversary of the first manned moon landing. To celebrate, the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at Santa Fe College is having two live concerts featuring nationally renowned recording artist Jonn Serrie.
Jonn Serrie's visionary compositional skills have revolutionized today's contemporary electronic music. He combines the timeless depths of space with spiritual musical vision, spanning the universe. Jonn Serrie will treat our community to not one, but two live concerts under the stars:
7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20: "Florida Skies: Around the Moon"
9:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20: "Meditative Moods: Around the Moon"
"Florida Skies: Around the Moon" is a special presentation of our weekly star show that takes you on a personally guided tour of our night sky, using our GOTO Chronos Space Simulator. This performance of "Florida Skies" will be super special because not only will we have guest story crafters telling Moon-related folktales from around the world, but Jonn Serrie will be playing music live under the stars as the stories are told.
"Meditative Moods: Around the Moon" is a concert under the stars where relaxation and inward reflection are the order of the day. Audiences will sit back and relax under the stars as they listen to Jonn's ethereal musical compositions with a guided meditation by Eric Morrow, owner/head trainer at Tool Shed Training. It is definitely an experience you'll remember for years to come.
"When Jonn performed his Christmas concert in our planetarium last year, it was the most moving and emotionally evocative event I've experienced in a planetarium. Listening to his music played live under the stars was simply breathtaking.", adds planetarium coordinator James C. Albury.

Admission is the standard $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior citizens (ages 60+), children (4-12 years old) and UF Gator-1 ID holders. Anyone with a Santa Fe College ID will receive free admission and children under 3 years old will also receive free admission.
