SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER WITH DAYTONA

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (24-19, 11-4 MFC) were powered to a 3-1 game one victory over Daytona State College on Tuesday afternoon, getting homers from Bianca Torres and Kimberly Booker to outpace the Falcons 3-1. The SF bats stalled in game two as DSC pulled away for a 6-0 win to earn a split.

Shannen Marchu started game one in the circle and earned the win. Karla Claudio picked up the save pitching in relief.

Torres finished game one 1-for-3 with a two run homerun, Booker was 1-for-4 with a solo homerun and Claudio was 2-for-3.

Daytona rallied in game two, scoring six unanswered runs in route to the 6-0 shutout. Claudio took the loss for SF.

Claudio finished 2-for-3, Layne McDermond was 1-for-3 and Aileen Fiallo was 1-for-3.

The Saints host Seminole State College on April 7 at 1:00 PM in MFC double header action. Before the double dip, Santa Fe and SSC will finish a game suspended due to darkness on March 8. The Saints are ahead 7-5 and batting in the top of the seventh when play resumes.
