Library Mission Statement
The Lawrence W. Tyree Library supports Santa Fe College with knowledgeable staff, appropriate resources, and an environment that promotes user success and life-long learning.
Purpose and Scope
Library events reflect and highlight research, programs, curricula, or the campus life of Santa Fe College using library materials. The Tyree Library welcomes college-affiliated organizations, departments, and groups to hold events in the library lobby special event area.
Events will be consistent with the college's educational philosophy and ideals. Events will be fair and equitable concerning potentially controversial issues. No events sponsored by organizations practicing or promoting discrimination based on race, color, creed, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or condition of physical ability are allowed. Facilities will not be reserved for personal use or regularly scheduled classes over the course of a semester.
Process
Requests must be made using the Library Event Request Form. Once a reservation request is submitted, the Library requires up to two business days to process the request. When processed and scheduled, a confirmation email will be sent to the primary contact person indicated on the request form.
Availability
Events must occur during scheduled library hours when the Library is normally open. Approval is at the discretion of library administration. Since the library lobby special event area is primarily used as a study space, no events may be scheduled during final examinations periods and/or other high-use study days.
Photography
Photography is not provided and will need to be arranged by the event’s organizers. The Library reserves the right to photograph the event and display or store any images.
Advertising
Event promotion / advertisement is the responsibility of the event’s organizers. The Library Event Coordinator will advertise the event in the Library as well as on the library website and in social media.
Food / Drink
Use of food and drink must be requested (see Library Event Request form). If approved, food and drink is only allowable in the south area of the lobby. Groups should be conscious that food and drink can attract pests that are harmful to books and media. In all cases, groups are responsible for food and drink with vendors, including service arrangements, clean-up, and payment.
Technology
Wireless access is available throughout the building. All Library workstations include the standard Windows-based office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet connectivity through established browsers. The Library will work with requesters to test and confirm all computer applications or connectivity prior to the event.
Cancellations
Cancellations should be received at least two weeks prior to the event. If late or no notice is given, the library administration may decline future reservations for the sponsoring group.
Failure to follow any of these policies may result in loss of library privileges or disciplinary sanctions.
Santa Fe College is committed to an environment that embraces diversity, respects the rights of all individuals, is open and accessible, and is free of harassment and discrimination based on, but not limited to, ethnicity, race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, sex, marital status, national origin, genetic information, political opinions or affiliations, and veteran status in all its programs, activities and employment. EA/EO notice.
