Library Mission Statement
The Lawrence W. Tyree Library supports Santa Fe College with knowledgeable staff, appropriate resources, and an environment that promotes user success and life-long learning.
- In response to user requests, the third floor of the Library is a designated quiet study area. Computers on this floor do not have sound cards and conversation is limited to the library staff assisting users.
- Noise Levels:
- First Floor: Normal tone of voice; ok to use cell phones; no disruptive noise from computers or electronic devices
- Second Floor: Quiet conversations; quiet cell phone use; no audible noise from computers or electronic devices
- Third Floor: No patron conversations; no cell phone use; no audible noise from computers or electronic devices
- Minors who are not SF students may not enter or remain in the Library unless accompanied by an adult. Adults bringing minors into the Library must accompany and supervise them at all times.
- Computers in the Library are intended for student use and academic purposes, such as accessing library/college resources and completing coursework. Additional rules are set forth in the Computer Use Policy.
- Users with disabilities may come to any of the service desks for help with accommodations.
- No animals are allowed in the Library other than service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- The Library follows the guidelines of the Santa Fe College Student Conduct Code available for review at Student Conduct Code. Santa Fe College values honesty, integrity, and civility. Consistent with these values, a respectful atmosphere is maintained in the library.
- Inappropriate public displays of affection, including sharing chairs, are not allowed.
- No solicitation of any kind is permitted. No printed materials may be displayed or distributed without prior authorization from the library director. No unauthorized signs may be posted anywhere on the library building.
- Unattended items will be taken to the SF Police Department’s Lost and Found. Library staff are not responsible for personal property left unattended in the Library.
- Library users who trigger the front gate alarm must approach the Circulation Desk and assist staff with determining the cause.
- In accordance with the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy, smoking and tobacco use is not permitted on College premises or in and around the Library.
- Library group study rooms on the first and second floors are available exclusively for use by SF students, faculty and staff. Additional rules are set forth in the Study Room Policy.
Failure to follow any of these policies may result in loss of library privileges or disciplinary sanctions.
