Information
Mr. Strickland graduated from the University of Florida in June of 1970, whereupon he entered active military duty as a Second Lieutenant, Armor Branch, US Army. He served three years in a tank battalion in Europe, then two years as a basic training company commander, an Infantry Tactics Operations Officer, and as a Central Post Fund (accounting) Custodian.
After leaving the service, Mr. Strickland returned to UF and completed his Masters in Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Economics. He then completed additional graduate study in Economics before coming to Santa Fe Community College in 1980 as a full-time instructor in Business Administration and Economics.
Mr. Strickland has taught numerous courses in the Business curriculum at SF as well as with St. Leo University and Nova Southeastern University in their Bachelor's programs. He was very involved in the creation of the Bachelor's of Applied Science degree in Organizational Management at SF and taught the introductory Management Principles course for the first five years of the degree offering, as well as the Principles of Finance and Managerial Economics courses in the program.
In addition to teaching at SF, Mr. Strickland co-owned and operated a wildlife art and taxidermy business for 11 years and spent fourteen years as a soccer referee at the youth, adult, and intercollegiate level. He also coached high school (girls) soccer at Gainesville High School for four years.
Mr. Strickland uses his You Tube channel, TheWyvern66, to post class-related videos for his students. He currently has over 1.5 million views and over 10,000 subscribers to that channel. He enjoys conversations with students (and faculty) around the globe.
