Information
I graduated from the University of Florida with my Master’s in Elementary Education, and began my teaching career in Florida teaching kindergarten in diverse school settings. After moving to North Carolina, I continued teaching kindergarten before pursuing my doctorate degree. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Ph.D. in Early Childhood, Intervention and Literacy. While pursuing my studies, I was a research assistant, course instructor, and student-teacher supervisor. I also worked as a literacy coach with the TRI literacy program. I have a passion for teaching in higher education—working with current and future educators and learning how early childhood teacher education programs prepare preservice teachers to effectively work with socioculturally and linguistically diverse children and families. I am also passionate about early literacy skills, and learning how new teachers are supported in schools and classrooms.
