Information

Hi! My name is Ryan and I am a success coach and psychology instructor. I am looking forward to introducing you to psychology and supporting you in achieving your goals.

After graduating from high school, I was unsure about my academic and career path. I settled on psychology because I thought it would help me determine exactly what I wanted to do (it also didn’t involve a lot of math). I studied many different areas of psychology before completing a master’s degree in behavioral neuroscience--studying what fish, bees, cats, and tadpoles can teach us about ourselves. While these animals are interesting (and awesome!), I decided that I wanted to help people instead of focusing just on research. Santa Fe gave me this opportunity and I have been teaching psychology classes here since 2013. A couple of years ago, I got involved with the Learning Commons and success coaching because I believe everyone has the potential to learn and grow when they have a good support system. Both psychology and coaching have taught me that the key to success is setting reasonable, positive goals, putting together a solid plan of action, and making use of the people and resources around you.

When I am not teaching or coaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, trying to keep up with my toddler, and doing nerdy stuff like playing video games.

If you have any questions about the differences between these formats, just send me an email, give me a call, or stop by during my office hours, and I'll be happy to tell you all about them. In addition to the classes at Santa Fe's Northwest (Main) Campus, I also often teach at the Davis Center in Archer and the Blount Center in Downtown Gainesville. They might seem far away, but the drive isn't long and these are really great places to take class.
