Information
Originally from Wichita KS, I moved to Gainesville to study African Political Development at the University of Florida. During my time there, I developed an interdisciplinary research agenda that combined African development in the late 20th century with a study of the theoretical foundations of cosmopolitanism and the capabilities approach. I teach a broad range of classes from political theory to international relations. I am the faculty advisor for Santa Fe College's (highly-decorated) Model United Nations team and the Global Society Club. I also frequently co-lead two study abroad programs: the spring trip to Jamaica and the summer trip to China.
When I'm not devoting my life to the educational growth of my students, I enjoy teaching my daughter the lyrics of songs from Sir Mix-a-Lot's Swass album, playing with our dog, Timmy Pickle Waggle-Tongue (she named him, not me), and arguing the finer points of pedagogy with my husband, Professor Dustin Fridkin.
