Membership in the Honors Program at Santa Fe College is a privilege afforded to the best, brightest, and most motivated students at the college. As an Honors student, you are held to high standards of academic and personal conduct. Honors students in their Honors, as well as regular classes, are expected to perform at the highest academic level and to actively engage in the learning environment as partners in the creation of knowledge.
Honors students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average or above. Honors students who fall below this level are placed on probation for one major semester, during which they are allowed to enroll in Honors classes and enjoy the benefits of Honors membership but are expected to improve their academic performance and raise their GPA to an acceptable mark. Students who are accepted into the Honors Program at Santa Fe College are obliged by their membership to act with the highest ethical standards in the community and in the classroom.
SF has adopted a Code of Student Conduct that outlines general guidelines for student conduct. Students are encouraged to review the Student Code of Conduct. Students who are found by the college to have violated the Student Code of Conduct may be dismissed from the Honors Program.
The very nature of an Honors Program and higher education, in general, requires that students adhere to accepted standards of academic integrity. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to: cheating, plagiarism, bribery, misrepresentation designed to achieve an academic advantage, conspiracy to act with one or more persons to commit academic fraud, fabrication or falsification of research or findings, and failure to cooperate with investigations of academic dishonesty. Students found in violation of academic integrity will have their case forwarded to the Vice President for Student Affairs and may be dismissed from the Honors Program.
