We are excited to invite you to an engaging and welcoming workshop that will introduce you to the world of Computer Aided Design. Whether you are curious about 3D modeling, interested in creative problem solving, or simply want to try something new, this session is designed to support learners of all backgrounds. No special skills or equipment are needed and all materials will be provided.
During this interactive workshop, you will explore the basics of 3D modeling using Onshape, a free cloud based tool. Together we will walk through the process of transforming a digital idea into a model that can be prepared for 3D printing. This experience is a great way to build confidence with design tools that many students find helpful in a wide range of academic and personal projects.
Here is what you can expect:
Live demonstration that guides you through the Onshape interface as we create a simple custom keychain together.
Step by step instruction that introduces essential tools such as sketching, extruding, and dimensioning.
Practical tips that help you prepare your designs for fabrication. Computers and mice will be available in the lab and you are welcome to bring something to take notes.
