Amy McBreen-Babb, PT, DPT, CEAS is a physical therapist and the inaugural director of the PTA Program. She teaches PTA courses related to general patient care, neurology, pediatrics, pathology, and spine rehabilitation; as well as topics on professionalism, management, laws and rules, and other topics. Dr. Babb holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University, a Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine, and a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, with a Minor in Education from the University of Florida. Dr. Babb has been teaching in health sciences and Physical Therapist Assistant programs since 2010. She worked as a staff physical therapist at UF Health/Shands Rehabilitation Hospital until 2015 when she resigned to focus on the Santa Fe College PTA Program development and implementation. Prior to moving to Gainesville, she served as the Program Director for a PTA Program in Naples Florida, and as an adjunct professor in the Broward College PTA program.
Prior to academics, Dr. Babb owned an outpatient physical therapy clinic, and has been a clinical instructor/educator for PT and PTA students since 2002. Dr. Babb has extensive experience treating a variety of patients and teaching a variety of students. Prior to becoming a PT, she was a radio air personality and News Director in Atlanta, Orlando, and Ft Myers, FL. Additionally, she served on the Florida Board of Physical Therapy Practice as a member and Vice Director. She has five children (all grown), seven grandchildren, and two cats. As a former radio DJ, she loves all types of music and will gladly engage in a game of music trivia at any time.
Christine (Chrissy) Ford-Greenberg, BS, PTA, has been practicing as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida since 1999. She has worked in outpatient orthopedics here in Gainesville since that time and as a result has developed many professional relationships within the physical therapy community. She is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Professor Greenberg is the Santa Fe College PTA Program Academic Coordinator for Clinical Education (ACCE). She is also a faculty member in the program, teaching anatomy for the PTA, kinesiology, modalities, therapeutic exercise, special topics and other courses. Professor Greenberg has extensive experience in a multitude of outpatient arenas to include general orthopedics, women’s health, outpatient neurological care, cardiac rehabilitation, wound care, and aquatics. She is also a certified lymphedema therapist. She has lectured locally on occasion in areas related to the pre mentioned specialties. These experiences provide a diversity of clinically relevant insight that she brings to the classroom.
Throughout her career she has mentored many students (PT’s, PTA’s and Applied Physiology and Kinesiology) and has grown to love the aspects of watching others grow and evolve into professionals that share her drive to serve the community. Professor Greenberg is married with two children and a dog. She is active in the community and enjoys teaching.
