Nuclear Medicine Technology is a medical specialty in which low-level radioactive materials are used for diagnosis and treatment of disease. As a nuclear medicine technologist, you will work in one of three major areas: organ imaging, radionuclide analysis or radionuclide therapy. You will also operate machinery and maintain records. You may also choose to pursue additional credentials in fields such as CT and PET scanning.

Advanced Placement Policy
Applicants to the Medical Imaging Programs at Santa Fe College (including Nuclear Medicine Technology) should be aware that all courses within the professional didactic and clinical curriculum are required. The Medical Imaging Programs do not recognize advanced placement, credit for experiential learning, international medical experience, or transfer credits from another medical imaging program.

Nuclear Medicine Technology is a dynamic medical specialty in which low-level radioactive materials (radio-nuclides) are used for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Nuclear Medicine technologists work in three major areas: organ imaging, radionuclide analysis of biologic specimens and radionuclide therapy.
Our Mission
To provide a comprehensive, competency based, accredited nuclear medicine technology curriculum preparing a diverse group of students to graduate with entry level skills needed to perform quality nuclear medicine procedures, while providing all patients with the best possible care.
Accreditation Statement
The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology and is in compliance with the curriculum frameworks as administered by the Florida Department of Education. The program is conducted in cooperation with UF Health, North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lake City Medical Center, Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital, Munroe Regional Medical Center and Ocala Regional Medical Center.
