Why am I being asked to take more steps after I already completed the FAFSA and got confirmation from them?
The amounts provided from the FAFSA are estimated amounts, and you are required to be fully eligible at the school level before receiving any funding through the FAFSA.
Being awarded financial aid is an process not a checklist, and requires you to take action along the way. Most, if not all, of the steps are required by the federal government.
Start early to give yourself plenty of time! Depending on your situation, the process can take a while. Note: If you are being asked for additional information and/or documents, you may have been selected for verification. Not to worry, this step just requires the school to verify the information you put on the FASFA is accurate.
