Service Animals on Campus
Santa Fe College abides by the Americans with Disabilities Act with regard to service animals. Service animals shall not be excluded from Santa Fe College facilities where students or members of the public are generally permitted. Students and members of the public with a service animal have a duty to comply with any local or state ordinances. Anyone using a service animal at Santa Fe College remains responsible at all times for that animal.
Two documents, provided by the United States government, detail current, useful information regarding the use of service animals by people with disabilities.

When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff may not ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.
