No Class Auditing Allowed for GDT/DMT Courses.
The Graphic Design Technology/Digital Media Technology program is a full time, lock-step, closed program that requires a special separate application beyond initial acceptance to Santa Fe College. Currently, students will progress through the program taking courses in a specific sequence and will therefore not be allowed to take the courses on a part-time basis.
At the Core of the program's philosophy for over 20 years is the acknowledged success precisely based on the learning community created with this controlled system. This motivates the students to learn from each other as they collectively progress on their training and assists them with staying on track.
The GDT/DMT courses all require receipt of permission to take those courses. Upon acceptance, the department controls at which point students will enter the program, and the order in which the students progress through the GDT/DMT courses. It has always been our philosophy that allowing students to audit that are not part of this process would disrupt the progress of training and could be detrimental to the learning experience of the class.
Auditing students have never been accepted in to our classes. This policy should carry through to current enrollment in the GDT/DMT courses. We hereby reaffirm our program policy of not accepting auditing students, without exception. Any student requests to be registered as an auditing student in any of these classes will be denied. In addition, the student will be directed to see the program coordinator.
