Adult Basic Education (ABE)
ABE classes provide basic skills instruction in reading, language, and/or mathematics and critical thinking skills to prepare students for GED® preparation, postsecondary education, and/or employment.
GED® Preparation
The purpose of the GED® program is to prepare students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Official GED® Tests and get their State of Florida High School Diploma. GED® Ready, the official practice test for the GED®, is given as part of the GED® preparation program. Results of those tests will guide instruction and assess readiness for the actual GED® test. Students completing GED® preparation will also be better prepared for postsecondary education.
The GED® consists of four content-area assessments:
- Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA), which tests a student’s ability to read closely, write clearly, and edit and understand written text
- Mathematics, which tests quantitative and algebraic problem solving
- Science, which includes life science, physical science, earth and space science
- Social Studies, which includes civics and government, U.S. history, economics, geography and the world
Learn more about the official GED® test and create an account on www.ged.com.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The Adult Education Career ESOL program offers non-native English speakers a chance to improve their English skills while developing a career pathway for better employment opportunities.
College and Career Readiness
These classes are designed to provide rigorous academic training to prepare advanced students for entry into certificate, degree, and/or industry-recognized credential programs.
Project SAINT
Project SAINT is an official Florida Post-Secondary Comprehensive Transition Program (FPCTP) for students with intellectual disabilities. It is recognized by the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities.
Housed in the Adult Education Department at Santa Fe College's Northwest Campus, Project SAINT stands for Student Access and INclusion Together. The name SAINT reflects the college's team name, the Santa Fe Saints, as well as the program’s emphasis on "inclusion together". SAINT students receive the part-time support of SF student mentors whether in classes, on internships, or participating in campus activities.
