The Survey
Understanding our campus’s climate is an important step toward ensuring our institution’s future success — and that of our students and employees. Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys are designed to help colleges and universities measure and assess both their strengths and weaknesses around diversity and inclusion efforts for faculty, staff, and administrators.
The ViewFinder survey addresses the Accountability section of the Access and Inclusion advisory committee's strategic plan by establishing a process to provide on-going evaluation of the campus climate.
We administered the survey to SF employees September 15, 2020 - October 1, 2020 through a customized e-mail link. Click below for the Benchmark Summary Report of our 2020 Viewfinder results.
Anonymity:
Anonymity is critical to ensuring a successful climate study. In order to insure anonymity, we have contracted with ViewFinder to conduct our campus climate survey. Employees will receive an email with a unique survey link directly from ViewFinder. This link will allow each person to only take the survey one time. Employees may take the survey at their convenience and not have to complete in one sitting. No employee outside of Campus Climate Surveys, LLC will ever be given access to the online surveys or individually identifying data.
Methodology
ViewFinder’s long-term experience, expertise, and relationships with other experts and thought leaders in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion has enabled them to create the most comprehensive campus climate survey instruments available for institutions of higher education. Their climate survey instruments were written in partnership with nearly a dozen chief diversity officers and senior administrators across the U.S. They came from all types of institutions and work on the front lines doing this work on a daily basis. They also reviewed the standards from higher education accrediting organizations which effects campus climate and achievement of diversity-related accreditation criteria. Their survey captures the essence of these standards through strategic inquiry to faculty, staff and administrators. This will help provide a more accurate snapshot of current campus climate conditions, as well as illuminate and link infrastructures to policy and practice underpinnings that improve an institution’s ability to make strategic improvements to its climate from its present state. The survey have been tested for reliability by an outside contractor.
