President Paul Broadie II
Since opening its doors to students in 1966, Santa Fe College has benefitted from strong, stable leadership in the President's Office. That tradition continues under the administration of President Paul Broadie II, Ph.D., who took office February 1, 2020, becoming the fifth person to serve the college as president. Dedicated to keeping Santa Fe College a premiere institution in the delivery of academic programs and development of new workforce education opportunities, President Broadie is unwaveringly supportive of providing the avenues needed for students to succeed.
President's Biography
Dr. Paul Broadie II became the fifth President of Santa Fe College (SF) on February 1, 2020. For nearly three decades, he has expanded academic programs, student services, innovative technology, community partnerships, and campus facilities, always with a focus on the student.
Dr. Broadie pledged during his inaugural address that his leadership would be guided by student success, individual and institutional growth, innovation, partnerships, and evolution. His focus is on expanding workforce development, shattering equity gaps, promoting a college-going culture, and continuing to grow strong academic programs.
He has engaged community leaders in discussions of potential partnerships, worked to bridge the digital divide by providing students in rural areas greater access to technology, and challenged college leaders to promote the idea that college is for everyone.
He directed the funds from the largest single donation in college history – $40 million from Ms. MacKenzie Scott – be used to further advance the college’s strategic priorities and mission of adding value to the lives of students and enriching the community.
He addresses academic and workforce needs by serving on the boards of CareerSource North Central Florida and the Greater Gainesville Chamber and established the innovative ACB Excel program; a two-generational approach offering parents rapid credentialing for higher-wage in-demand jobs while their children engage in academic-enriching activities that support their well-being.
Other initiatives lead by President Broadie include the SF Achieve program, which offers public school students in SF’s service district opportunities for additional scholarships, and the Academy of Science and Technology, a STEM-focused high school enabling students to earn their high school diploma, A.S. degree, and a minimum of two industry credentials at no cost to them or their families.
In the fall of 2023, the college broke ground on the Ralph W. Cellon Jr. Institute for Skilled Trades and Advanced Manufacturing. The new facility will double the college’s instructional space for Welding and HVAC programs. The college will also create a new academic program in Advanced Manufacturing to address the needs of business and industry in the community.
Dr. Broadie holds a Ph.D. from Colorado State University, an M.B.A. from Long Island University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Mercy College.
