The Emergency Medical Services Programs at Santa Fe College consist of a First Responder course, Emergency Medical Responder, the Emergency Medical Technician Certificate Program (EMT), the Paramedic Certificate Program and Emergency Medical Services A.S. or A.A.S. degree. These programs prepare individuals to deliver patient care at the scene of an emergency, in an ambulance, with fire rescue, in an emergency department, in the military and in many other areas of health care.
The A.S./A.A.S. degree in EMS is also applicable for people who are currently employed in these fields and who want to improve their skills for career development. Students must demonstrate competency in reading, writing, oral communication and fundamental mathematical and computer skills. The program advisor will provide details when the student enters the degree track.
