Proctored Testing for Online CoursesMany online classes require proctored testing, which means someone has to observe you while you take your test. There are several options for taking proctored exams. Course Information Pages should have testing requirements listed, or speak to your instructor about which options he or she allows.
Option 1 - Testing at a SF Campus
The NW Testing Center in N-216 has 35 dedicated computer stations to be used only by walk-in students in online classes who must take proctored exams. Other centers will proctor exams by appointment. Testing at any one of the campus locations is free. For more information, visit the Testing Center website
Option 2 - Online live proctoring through ProctorU
This option incurs additional costs. ProctorU is a company that does live, online test proctoring. You can take your test from home or any Internet-connected computer that has a webcam. You must first create an account and then make appointments ahead of time for testing, and you must speak to your instructor about this option first. For more information, go here. Prior to your exam visit the Pre-Exam Checklist to be sure you are ready.
Option 3 - Use of another verified testing center.
This option incurs additional costs. If you live outside of Gainesville, you may wish to speak to your instructor about the option of taking proctored exams at a testing center near where you live. For more information on this option visit the Florida Testing Center or the National College Testing Association Website for another state.
