Santa Fe College is proud to announce new course tracking for the Associates of Arts degree with an emphasis in music. Students will be able to concentrate in either instrumental or vocal areas, with applied music classes in brass, piano, voice, woodwinds and percussion. Complete four-semester tracks in music theory and class piano will allow for the successful transfer of music students from Santa Fe College to music major programs at four year institutions. In addition, coursework for non majors seeking to fulfill the general education fine arts requirement include classes in Music Fundamentals, Secondary Piano, Music Appreciation, Introduction to World Music, American Popular Music, Musical Styles, History of Jazz and Hand Drumming.
Santa Fe performance groups include the Santa Fe Winds, the Santa Fe Jazz Band, jazz combos, the Santa Fe Singers, the Santa Fe Madrigal Singers.
Small class sizes, experienced, caring faculty, and excellent performance ensembles makes Santa Fe College an ideal place to receive high quality training in music. Our ensembles have performed to high acclaim in many different venues including Carnegie Hall and the new, state of the art, Santa Fe Fine Arts Hall. Santa Fe music students frequently collaborate with our excellent theatre and dance programs in productions ranging from operas and ballet to swing dances and Broadway musicals. They work with excellent professors in individual lessons to bring their performance skills up to a professional level.
