Gainesville ranks as one of the best cities for startups... -
Gainesville was recently named one of the top cities in which to start a new business, and it may have UF and Santa Fe College to thank. HeroPay Academy, a California-based company, conducted a nationwide study released in February, which analyzed data from 358 cities to determine the best cities to start up businesses, said Hiro Taylor, the company’s CEO.

2 College Brothers win top business awards -
Gainesville Health & Fitness and 2 College Brothers won top honors Thursday night at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Business of the Year Awards that recognized businesses and a nonprofit in a number of categories scored on excellence and innovation in business and community involvement.

GTEC to expand facilities, program -
Some big changes are coming to the Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center. Bill Dorman is GTEC's Director who says, "We're going to have a greater number of people, greater concentration of interest in technology and entrepreneurship here in Gainesville and we hope to create jobs and job growth here in Gainesville." While the program is managed by Santa Fe College, it's open to any entrepreneur. The center provides mentorship and guidance, and of course, office space for local start-ups.
